Privacy Policy

Overview

whatshuang.com is my personal site (Howard Huang). This page explains what the site collects, why, who helps me handle it, and your choices.

What You Give Me

• Contact form: your first and last name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. An email delivery provider delivers it to my inbox, and I use it only to reply to you.
• Newsletter: your email address. It’s stored with the same email provider, with a note that you signed up on this site. You get a welcome email and I get a note that you subscribed. I use your address only to send the newsletter, and every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
• Booking a session: you pick a time on a third-party scheduling page. It shares your name, email address and anything you add with me so I can hold the call. Kate & Emmett Company, my company, uses your name and email address to send the invoice.

Calculators and other tools on the site run in your browser. What you type into them stays there.

What the Site Collects Automatically

• Analytics: I use Google Analytics and cookie-free visitor statistics to see which pages people read. They record pages viewed, how you got here, device and browser type, approximate location, and actions like scrolling, clicking a link or signing up. Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart. How Google uses information from sites that use its services
• Hosting: like any web host, my hosting provider processes standard request data, such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

How I Use It

• To send the newsletter, only if you signed up
• To schedule and invoice sessions
• To see which pages people read and fix what’s confusing

I don’t sell the information you give me, and I don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who Helps Me

A few service providers handle data for me, each under its own privacy policy:

• My hosting provider, which serves the site
• An email delivery provider, which delivers contact messages, sends the welcome email and newsletter, and stores the newsletter list
• A scheduling service, which takes session bookings
• The analytics tools above

Ask me and I’ll tell you which companies I use right now.

How Long I Keep It

• Contact messages: in my inbox until you ask me to delete them.
• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your address.
• Bookings and invoices: bookings stay on my calendar; invoices are kept as long as tax rules require.
• Analytics: each tool deletes data on its own schedule. Google Analytics deletes detailed data within 14 months of your last visit; its reports keep only totals.
• Hosting logs: up to a week.

Your Choices

• Ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, a correction or deletion: email whatshuang@gmail.com.
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
• Opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Children’s Privacy

The site isn’t meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has sent me something, email me and I’ll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If I change this policy, I’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
